What role play Allied Health Services in NDIS?
Allied health services play an important role in the National Disability Insurance System (NDIS). They provide a wide range of evidence-based assessments, reports and interventions that are essential to delegating decision-making to the NDIS. Occupational therapists and physical therapists are often included in the core services to be provided under the plan. To assist healthcare professionals with the registration process, the NDIS has created a registration assistance website that includes
webinars. This website provides an additional resource to provide healthcare professionals with the information and guidance they need to successfully register with the NDIS.
These services are financed in different ways. Many services are paid for, but some are eligible for grants and other funding. The funded services include the treatment of:
- for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants and for elderly
- for chronic or terminal conditions that get a Medicare rebate for a limited number of sessions
- for people who have a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) card.
